Searching for Casualties and Divers
Locating people underwater is not as easy as you may think. Very often the simplest solution is to locate the sonar shadow and waypoint it, then drop a diver onto the shadow point and have him swim back towards the trackline on a perpendicular course.
Diver on Wreck
Occasionally, with a good bottom and reasonable angle between the target and the boat it can be really simple. Here a UAU diver examines a small wreck.

The software used here is Lowrance sonar viewer. The availability of software for sidescan analysis should be an important factor in the choice of equipment.
